Traditional striking and modern grappling
Ghislaine Hallacy, known as Gee and G “Jabs” Hallacy, brings a background spanning Karate and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to Onyx. Her academy biography records promotion to Karate 4th Dan in 2023 by Sensei Neil Malpas and to BJJ purple belt in 2025.
Her experience is broader than a single coaching role. Traditional striking develops attention to movement, timing and control; grappling asks a practitioner to manage position and pressure in direct contact with another person. Gee brings those perspectives into her teaching while continuing to test her grappling in competition.
An active No-Gi competitor
Gee’s competition background includes the 2023 No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu British Open, Impact Invitational and Warehouse JJ appearances. These form part of the competition biography supplied to Onyx; they are not presented here as a list of unverified championship titles.
A published Smoothcomp match record for the 2024 Mauricio Gomes Legacy Cup records Ghislaine Hallacy in Female No-Gi Middle, Adult Blue, including a submission win. Belt categories in historic results reflect her rank at the time of that event, rather than her current purple-belt status.
Her next announced match is a 60kg No-Gi superfight against Rae Hussey at Final Kumite 6 on 24 October 2026. Read the Onyx match announcement for the details. The bout is upcoming; no result is claimed.
Female-led coaching at Onyx
Gee leads female-led Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the academy. Her role offers women and girls a welcoming route onto the mats, supported by technical instruction and an experienced martial arts background.
New students have to learn unfamiliar movements and positions as well as unfamiliar terminology. Patient explanation gives them time to understand a task and ask questions. As confidence develops, the same positions can be revisited with more detail rather than abandoned for an endless sequence of new techniques.
Her coaching emphasises positional awareness, movement and control. Understanding how a position works helps students see why a technique succeeds and what to adjust when it does not. That is useful for a recreational practitioner and for an athlete preparing to compete.
