Technical standards matter. Onyx is building its programmes around coaches with serious competitive, development and national-level experience.
Kickboxing Programme Lead
Kickboxing GB Head Coach Juniors and the coach responsible for running the Onyx kickboxing programme in Northampton.
Chris brings both national-team coaching experience and a strong competitive background. Official WAKO results record him as a veteran men’s Point Fighting World and European champion, while his current Kickboxing GB role places him directly within the national youth development pathway.
At Onyx, his role is to build strong technical foundations for children and adults, create a clear development route and support competition ambitions where appropriate. Competition remains optional.

MMA Coaching
Experienced combat-sports coach and veteran of Cage Warriors and Fightstar.
Tom brings direct experience from professional mixed martial arts competition into the Onyx MMA pathway. His background supports a programme focused on practical striking, movement, decision-making and the technical transitions required in mixed-rules training.
The current Onyx MMA session runs on Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM.
What good coaching should give you
Onyx coaching is intended to make progress understandable, repeatable and appropriate to the student’s level.
Good coaching gives each round and drill a clear technical purpose.
Beginners need strong foundations before intensity. Experienced students need detail, timing and better decisions.
